summer sweetness [magazine concept]

For those who don’t know, I was recently accepted into a one-year graphic design course at ETIC!

I am stupidly excited about this as I have a genuine passion for everything creative, be it filming videos, writing fiction drawing. Design is probably what I love the most though, or, better yet, it’s where all my loves seem to combine and prosper.

Anyway, here’s a one-story magazine I quickly threw together the other day because I had a bunch of cool pictures from the beach I wanted to use and an idea for a text I wanted to put on paper, no matter how bad (& and it is pretty damn bad).

From 84 to 58 kilos | My weight loss journey

Hi, everyone! For those of you who don’t know me well: I’m Gisela, I’m 20 years old and I used to be overweight.

I’ve lost over 26 kilos in the past 5 years and in this video I tell you all about how I grew fat, why I didn’t lose weight for so long and how I finally beat my weight issues by developing a healthy relationship with food.

If you’re a fellow overweight teen like I used to be, please know you’re not alone in feeling helpless. I never thought I would lose half the weight I did and now here I am! Seriously, it’s wiiiild.

Switching Spotify for Castbox: why you should listen to podcasts

I love music. I think all human beings with functioning ears love music, be it the repetitive pop that comes on the radio or the indie rap we download to our phones through less than legal means.

Music is fantastic. It allows us to fill our brains with harmonious noise while we ignore the 65 year old woman sitting next to us on the bus that really, REALLY wants to talk to you about the weather and show you pictures of her grandkids (listen, I consider myself a polite person, but you’ll have better chances asking me to breakdance than asking me to make small talk with strangers on a Monday morning).

But do you know what are also great and don’t get enough love? Podcasts.

I designed a magazine (and enjoyed the h*ck out of it)

For those of you who don’t know, I’m about to finish a degree in the Sciences of Communication or, as my Erasmus paperwork stated, Media Studies.

Impressive, I know.

In my three years in college, I’ve taken a lot of different classes in the most varied subjects such as introduction to law, economy, marketing, spanish literature (#erasmuslife), the basics of journalism, radio and public relations. This semester, I got to take a class in Digital Journalism and for the first time in my life I did something I’d always dreamed of doing: I designed a magazine.

GRWM » Benção das Fitas | My Graduation Ceremony

So… Guess who made a Youtube channel? I’ve been thinking of making my own videos for a while now and last week I finally took the plunge!

This is a get ready with me & a vlog of my graduation ceremony! The video is in English, with subtitles for all the Portuguese bits.

In the future, I’ll be recording videos about weight loss, skincare and makeup for acne skin, as well as fashion. I’ll do these in English and vlogs in Portuguese, as that’s what feels most natural.

If you enjoy this video, please consider subscribing to my channel! I have a ton of ideas that I want to put in march this summer and your support would mean the world to me. Thank you!

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye!

My graduation ceremony was yesterday, but I’ll be honest, I don’t feel like anything is over.

Yesterday I didn’t cry. I didn’t make long, sappy movies in my head about how it’s all changing. I didn’t despair at the thought of never seeing my friends again and I certainly didn’t look with longing at the faculty that I had always classified as cold, lifeless and exceedingly bureaucratic.

For me, the end of college feels more like a start.
